When the concept of debt relationship is defined in terms of private law, it is a legal bond that occurs between two parties called creditor and debtor, where the debtor is obliged to perform a certain behavior (performance) against the creditor, and the creditor can request the fulfillment of this behavior from the debtor (demand performance).
